Kimihiko
Iwamura, President
Mr. Iwamura has been leading Omron Silicon Valley since 1996 as general manager and president. Mr. Iwamura is a fund management and cross-border business development professional with extensive experience in Silicon Valley that built a broad and deep network among VCs and start-up companies in the valley.
He also has successfully developed extensive relationships with universities and national laboratories. His business relationships include not only with companies in the U.S. but also with Japanese corporations. Previously, he was with Fuji Xerox for more than 15 years as a strategic planning manager. Mr. Iwamura holds a B.S. in physics from International Christian University in Tokyo.
Thomas
Kurian, Director, Vice President, New Technologies and Markets
Mr. Kurian joined OSV in 1997, with a focus on new business development, technology alliances and strategic venture. His current interests are primarily wireless opportunities including UWB and WiMax.
Mr. Kurian is a strategist and has worked in the technology since 1986 in three technology regions: Bangalore, Massachusetts, and Silicon Valley. His academic background is in technology strategy, and he holds an MBA from the University of Massachusetts. He has also attended Sloan Executive Programs on Innovation and Technology at MIT.
Shyam Venkatesh, Ph.D. Director, Business Development
Shyam joined OSV in September of 2006, with a focus on energy, nanotechnology and security markets.
Shyam has nearly 15 years of experience in technology and innovation, and management consulting. He was formerly with Arthur D. Little (ADL) where he was involved in the development of advanced clean energy technologies including emissions-control devices and systems, alternative fuel-based transportation and energy generation systems, biomass reactors and fuel cell systems. While at ADL he also devised technology, product development, and market strategies for major global corporations as well as start-up companies. He has served as a consultant to the DOE, DOD, the U.S. EPA, the California Energy Commission, and the World Bank. Prior to joining OSV, for nearly two years, Shyam directed technology commercialization at the NASA Ames Research Center in Mountain View with a focus on Nanotechnology, Life Sciences, and Artificial Intelligence.
Shyam has an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley, a Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kentucky, and a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from India.
Ritsuko
Nishide, Accounting Manager & Project Manager
Ms. Ritsuko Nishide joined OSV in 2003. She is responsible for management of various collaborative projects between OMRON Corporation, Universities, Research Institutes, and OSV and operations as well as financial administration of Omron Silicon Valley
Ms. Nishide is an IT professional with over 7 years of experience in the financial and enterprise software industries. Prior to joining OSV, she worked as a systems engineer for several investment banks in Tokyo and, most recently, as a sales consultant for Siebel Systems. Ms. Nishide holds a B.S.
in industrial engineering from Seikei University in Tokyo.
Shuichiro Tsukiji, Senior Software Architect Mr. Tsukiji joined OSV in 2006. His mission is to create innovative new technologies in collaboration with universities, research institutions and companies around Silicon Valley such as Stanford and UC Berkeley.
Mr. Tsukiji has broad technological background and experience. He is a software engineer with 3 years experience of developing computer vision systems focusing on facial images at OMRON Sensing & Control laboratory. Additionally he has over 2 years experience of developing autonomous robots for Robocup at Keio University. He developed not only the software of robot's intelligence, but also its mechanism and electronic circuits. He has also 3 years experience designing ticket vending machines for Japanese train stations using 3D-CAD as a mechanical engineer in OMRON Social Systems Business Company. He holds a B.S. and M.S. in mechanical engineering from
Keio University.
Koji Sano, Senior Research Engineer
Mr. Sano joined OSV in 2007 from Advanced Device Laboratory of OMRON. His mission is to find new technologies for OMRON in United States. He is a MEMS engineer with over 10 years of experience in research and development of MEMS devices. He had developed a pressure sensor, an accelerometer, a switch of MEMS. Especially he has abundant knowledge about fabrication process of MEMS devices. He holds a B.S. in semiconductor physics from Tsukuba University.
Masashi Takahashi, Senior Research Engineer
Mr. Takahashi joined OSV, Inc. in 2007. He has been engaging in a research on MEMS technology as a visiting scholar of Stanford University. He actually joins one of the key project teams under Professor Roger Howe to achieve the novel MEMS device.
Before OSV Mr. Takahashi he belonged to OMRON Advanced Device Laboratory for 4 years where he was a MEMS engineer and has experienced the research and development. His experience includes evaluation and design of MEMS devices. He has developed the computer aided engineering for MEMS since joining OMRON Corporation. He is also interested in the application organized by various devices like a sensor-network. His academic background is computer science, especially in high reliability system, and he holds a BSCS from University of Aizu and MSCS from Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology.
Ryota Yamada, Senior Software Architect
Mr. Yamada is a software engineer with over 3 years of experience in research and development of intelligent agent technologies.
Mr. Yamada joined OSV in 2004 from OMRON Corporation. He has a leading position in research and development of socially intelligent agent technology in a collaborative innovation project between OMRON Corporation, Stanford University, and OSV.
His academic background is in artificial intelligence and computer science, and he holds a B.S. and M.S. in E.E. from Nagoya Institute of Technology in Japan. |
